Sydney City Hire Car, NSW, Australia

Sydney NSW is Australia’s biggest city and is the gateway for most international visitors to Australia. Around 7 million people visit Sydney every year.

Like any big city, Sydney traffic is busy, but outside of peak times driving a car is often just as quick as public transport, especially for visiting tourist attractions away from the CBD. Hiring a car also opens up the opportunity of spending some time away from the city in the New South Wales countryside.

Renting a Car in Sydney City

Most Sydney City rental car companies have offices in central Sydney. Hiring a car from within the city is a good idea if you want to use a rental car for a day trip or a few days out of the city. Sydney City rental cars can be booked online, as this allows you to compare many car hire rates at one time.

Driving your rental car in Sydney and NSW

Speed limits in Sydney change frequently, unlike some cities you cannot always tell the speed limit by the type of road or area you are driving through. Take note of speed limit signs.

Parking in Sydney CBD can be difficult and expensive.

Some motorways in Sydney are toll roads, including the motorway from Sydney Airport into the city and you can pay cash at the toll booths. For other tolls, you need an E-Pass or E-Tag. Your rental car company will be able to give you advice about how to use these.

If you are travelling up to Queensland and the Gold Coast or Cairns, also be aware that in summer Queensland is one hour behind New South Wales as daylight saving time is not observed.
